In October 2008, BEST Group Management Consultants merged with RSI Executive Search and Recruiting, after the untimely death of BEST Group's owner, Dave Schenk. On Wednesday, October 1^st, 2008, BEST Group’s founder and CEO/President Dave Schenk collapsed, and at the age of 59, he died almost immediately from a heart attack.

For those who knew Dave well – they will truly miss his generous, honest and fun-loving ways. For those who knew him in passing or through business, his family and BEST Group staff are sorry you didn’t get to know him better. Most of Dave's close friends wish they had more

of Dave’s joie de vivre. During the weeks that followed his death, so many people commented to his family and staff, that they wish they too could live life more to its fullest – as if each day were going to be your last – just like Dave.

BEST Group Management Consultants is moving forward – sadly, without Dave – as he would have wanted. BEST Group is forming a joint partnership with RSI Executive Search and Recruiting, with the new company emerging as RSI-BEST Group Management Consultants. RSI’s President, Stacy Sadar, was both a trusted business associate and a good friend of Dave’s and will become the Managing Partner of this new combined company.

Janice Schenk, Dave’s widow said, “Dave was the face of BEST Group – one of a kind – and it’s impossible to fill his shoes. But Stacy is the next best in the business when it comes to IT search and professional recruiting. Dave and Stacy were friends and business colleagues. They trusted each other, and I trust Stacy completely to manage and lead the business in the style that my husband did, and transition these two individual search and recruiting companies into one. I so hope that BEST Group’s hiring clients and those looking for new positions, continue to contact either office as the two separate locations merge.”

BEST Group Management Consultants was started in Minneapolis, Minnesota in 1995, and the Cleveland/Brecksville office was opened in 1997. RSI is based out of Richfield, Ohio, a Northeast, Ohio suburb between Cleveland and Akron. The new office location is still to be determined.

Stacy Sadar said, “It certainly won’t be business as usual without Dave Schenk, because he was a unique and innovative individual who treated his clients and candidates as family by getting to know each one individually. My relationship with Dave over many years showed what an exceptionally focused and skilled person he was in connecting clients with candidates. Dave and I loved exchanging business philosophies and that’s why our two businesses were so successful in meeting our clients’ hiring needs. Our two companies were very much alike in many ways. I suppose that is why we worked together so well, in that our company synergies so closely matched one another not to mention our personalities. I will truly miss my friend and business partner. We will continue Dave Schenk’s legacy with RSI-BEST Group Management Consultants.”

And for those who knew Dave well, this last final note will truly hit home. In 2002, Dave was on Crain’s Cleveland Business’ annual Who’s Who in Technology list. Customer nominations led to this recognition, and Crain’s summarized all the nominations with this statement about Mr. Schenk: “Praised by clients for his ability to find the right candidate for the job and the right bottle of wine for the occasion.” Well said.
