When losing a
valued staff member, a typical employers first thoughts might be, How can we
find someone with the right qualifications? How
fast can we find a replacement? And
those exact thoughts went through the mind of Ed Marx, CIO at University Hospitals Health
System in Cleveland, Ohio, when a productive, industrious, respected team member resigned.
As a board member of the Healthcare
Information Management Systems Society, Northern Ohio chapter, better know as NOHIMSS,
Marx serves on the board with Dave Schenk, President of BEST Group Management Consultants,
specialists in high profile search and recruiting. After
a brief discussion about the situation, Schenk said he had a person that might be the
right fit, so they talked in detail about the position.
Marx
said, I knew BEST had done work for other hospitals, that they were successful at
it, and that they would like to do more business with UH.
Dave and I discussed how BEST is constantly interviewing, and he said he even
had someone in mind for us. To do everything
possible to minimize the gap between employees, I turned to BEST Group.
Schenk
said, BEST Group offers workforce planning, so for many of our clients, we recruit
for three, six and even twelve months into the future.
We partner with organizations acting as an extension of their human
resources department. We frequently get
involved in projects early, so as they become reality, or as strategic plans are
developed, personnel needs are addressed at the same time.
Were always interviewing for quality people for future needs based on
market conditions and client input.
Because of the continual and extensive
daily interviewing performed by BEST Group recruiters, several candidates were identified
immediately one with the exact needed skill set a registered nurse with an
IT background.
After
the candidate was hired and on the job for several months, Marx said, There were no
surprises during the recruiting process. BEST
Groups speed-of-service was outstanding and the quality of the people was terrific. They kept us up-to-date with salary range and what
was needed to close the deal every step of the way with no surprises. Plus, the fact that the final candidate was known,
not someone out of the blue was very reassuring. Now
that shes been with us for six months, its easy to say this was a great
hire.
When asked if hed recommend
BEST Group to others, Marx said, Absolutely, and I already have! |
